Career: Apparently played in goal for Leyton Orient juniors in the 1960s. Following two shocking performances against Tottenham Hotspur it seems he was classified unfit for a professional career.

Correspondent for the BBC and also The Guardian in Central America and Mexico in the 1980s. Researcher and producer for ITV at the Mexico, 1986 and Italy, 1990 World Cups as well as at the Seoul Olympics, 1988

Financial Times: formerly wrote the View from the Back football column and has recently (2008) compiled World Diary
