About: Column was originally conceived by Hargreaves Parkinson in the 1930's for the Financial News, which later merged with the FT. The first column appeared on 1st October 1945. Past contributors include Nigel Lawson and his son Dominic Lawson, former editor of The Sunday Telegraph
