About: Annalisa Barbieri is a Guardian columnist and sketch writer for The Week. She also writes for the Economist's Intelligent Life magazine, the New Statesman and the Independent. A former contributing editor of the Independent on Sunday and fishing correspondent of the Independent, she is also patron of Rights of Women

Career: Seamstress to the Queen Mother; worked at Prison HQ at the Home Office; fashion PR for five years then joined The Observer as a fashion assistant; worked for the Evening Standard, The Times and became one of the fashion editors at The Independent on Sunday, staying for five years and writing the 'Dear Annie column'; was The Independent's fishing correspondent, 1997/2004; The Guardian, columnist 2004-
